What Is need To Become a Crane Operator In PA

General Instructions:
THIS APPLICATION IS FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT POSSESS A CURRENT AND VALID CERTIFICATION FROM A BOARD APPROVED CERTIFYING ORGANIZATION.

You must be 18 years of age or older and physically capable of operating a crane.

You can only be licensed in the crane specialty for which you are certified. Addition of a crane specialty to your Pennsylvania license is obtained by application, payment of fee, and proof of certification.Licenses expire October 31 of even-numbered years regardless of initial date of licensure. Licenses are not forwarded. Duplicate licenses are issued upon request with a fee of $5.00.You will be notified of application discrepancies by email.

YOU MUST MAINTAIN CURRENT CERTIFICATION WITH A CERTIFYING ORGANIZATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH A PENNSYLVANIA LICENSE.

Application Fee:
An application fee of $100.00 is required. Please note that all fees are non-refundable.

Background Check:
Provide a recent Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) from the state police or other state agency for every state in which you have lived, worked, or completed professional training/studies for the past ten (10) years.

The report(s) must be dated within 90 days of the date the application is submitted. For applicants living, working, or completing training/studies in Pennsylvania, your CHRC request will be automatically submitted to the Pennsylvania State Police upon submission of this application. The PATCH fee will be included at checkout.

Your PA CHRC will be sent directly to the Board/Commission. You will be notified if additional action is required. For individuals living, working, or completing training/studies outside of Pennsylvania during the past ten (10) years, in lieu of obtaining individual state background checks, you may elect to provide BOTH a state CHRC from the state in which you currently reside, AND your FBI Identity History Summary Check.

Please note: For applicants currently living, working, or completing training/studies in California, Arizona, or Ohio: Due to the laws of these states, the Board is not an eligible recipient of CHRC's or your CHRC will not be issued to you for upload to the Board. Please obtain your Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Identity History Summary Check, available at the link noted above.

Proof of Certification:
Contact and authorize your Pennsylvania approved certifying organization to provide proof of certificate directly to the Board office. The Board cannot accept a copy of the certification card or documentation provided by the applicant.

Physical Exam:
Upload a copy of your physician's certification that you have been examined by a physician and determined to be physically capable of operating a crane. See the Physical Examination Requirement on the Board's website.

The physician may use a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) physical form approved by the United States Department of Transportation.
